Fact & Fiction Acquires KAROT as Agency Enters Challenger Mode of Growth

October 17, 2018 (Boulder, Colo.) – After a successful partnership to support a mutual client project, strategic creative shop Fact & Fiction, a subsidiary of Boulder Heavy Industries, has acquired full-service content studio, KAROT.

With the addition of KAROT’s comprehensive production capabilities, Fact & Fiction is better able to build not only brands worth caring about, but also make content worth paying attention to.  Fact & Fiction’s integrated approach and unique structure allows the agency to move “at the speed of modern” without sacrificing quality when it comes to content. 

Luke Frydenger, founder of KAROT and now partner at Fact & Fiction, immediately recognizes the benefits the acquisition provides to clients. “Often brands have great strategy, but the execution falls short.  Conversely, content not grounded in a human truth lacks heart.  From the moment we began working together, we’ve collectively provided an experience and a product that is unique and valuable. Frydenger offers a comprehensive expertise to Fact & Fiction.  In 2009, Frydenger was challenged with building PopSugar Studios from the ground up for the media giant with the guidance of Fox TV Studios founder, David Grant. At the time, very few media companies were dabbling in video, much less succeeding. During his time there, Frydenger and his team established the PopSugar video platform as a leading video destination for millennial women.  

Following his success at PopSugar, including first-of-its kind branded content with clients from Starbucks to Levi’s, Frydenger recognized an interest in working directly with brands. Launching his own studio, he went on to partner with and create content for industry powerhouses such as Sephora, Porsche, Chase, and Estée Lauder.
